graphic designer

I worked at Hatch Show Print as their first graphic design intern in the early 1990s. I gained invaluable letterpress experience to go along with my graphic design education at the University of Cincinnati. The graphic design program at UC was firmly rooted in the International Style and Swiss graphic design. I was nominated by David Carson in the Typography category and exhibited letterpress work at a show of up-and-coming creatives in London [Creative Futures 94].

While interning for David Carson, I assisted on the design of The End of Print: The Graphic Design of David Carson, which became the best-selling graphic design monograph of all time. I also designed articles for three issues of RayGun magazine, following up on design commissions for previous issues in the mediums of letterpress, multimedia, and digital.

I designed a Hank Williams 10-CD box set while working at Team Design which won a Grammy for Best Boxed Set Package. As a freelance designer, I have collaborated with Kurt Wagner on Lambchop album packaging and this work has been featured in Creative Review magazine [UK] and included in the books 1000 Supreme CD Designs, The Greatest Album Covers of All Time, and Lürzer’s Special Archive: Design for Music 1.

DJ

As a DJ, I have co-hosted radio programs on Fisk University Radio [88.1 FM WFSK with Chris Aubrey] and Vanderbilt University Radio [91.1 FM WRVU with Jonathan Marx]. As part of Heavweight Sound System and as Pale Rider, I have opened for the Mighty Diamonds, Mikey Dread, and the Wailers Band.
